The Bitcoin Temperature combines two blockchain-based metrics to measure whether Bitcoin is cheap or expensive right now:
Compares Bitcoin's current price to what everyone paid for their coins on average. When MVRV is high, the market price is well above what people paid — a sign Bitcoin may be expensive. When it's low, Bitcoin is trading near or below average cost — historically a good time to buy.
Compares activity between short-term traders and long-term holders. When short-term traders dominate, the market tends to be overheated. When long-term holders dominate, it usually means smart money is accumulating quietly.
Each metric is scored 0-100 based on where it falls in Bitcoin's history. A score of 80 means the reading is higher than 80% of all time. The two scores are combined (MVRV 60%, RHODL 40%) to produce the final Temperature.
On-chain data is sourced from Bitcoin Magazine Pro and Glassnode. The temperature is calculated daily and stored for historical tracking. BTC price data is sourced from CoinGecko.
